Katsume is Bukeyashiki-style mansion, famous for its "Karesansui" garden, which is said to have been created in the 18th century and has been designated a "place of scenic beauty" by Miyazaki Prefecture.
The Home's grounds, covering roughly 1100㎡ and enclosed within wooden and "Ishigaki" walls, can be entered through a traditional stone gate that faces the road running south of the Home. While the original beauty of the Home remains intact in its ceilings, ornamentations and more, it has also been retrofitted with luxuries such as a large "Koyamaki" bathtub and plush lounge chairs on the "engawa" from where guests can enjoy their very own "Karensansui" garden.
Katsume is located right off the "Main Merchant Street" and is a short stroll from all of Obi's sites, and has on-site parking if you are exploring Kyushu by car.
